Bacon and fig baked brie recipe - Eat, Drink, and Save Money (1)

Well guys, Thanksgiving is upon us. How did time fly by so fast this year? As much as I love the holidays and look forward to them every year, I’m always shocked by how fast this time of year flies by.

If you’re looking for a new appetizer to try this Thanksgiving, you’ve got to check out this new bacon and fig baked brie recipe I cooked up over the weekend.

Tom and I haven’t had a lot of time to ourselves lately, soon Saturday I baked a snack for us to enjoy with wine after the kids went to bed. We cracked open a bottle of wine and finally got some time to talk.

How is it that we rarely have time to talk? I know we aren’t alone. From what I hear from my friends,it’s common for partnersto have to carve out time to talk to each other. We are constantly working, tending to the kids, or doing chores around the house. Even on vacation, we found ourselves tending to the kids more than we talked to each other.

That’s why we try to have an at home date night at least once a week. This week we bought a bottle of Wente wine to enjoy on our lanai. I’m so thankful that we have amazing weather where we can enjoy nights on the back porch in shorts sleeves in November. I’m sure that sounds crazy to all you northerners who got snow over the weekend!

We paired our wine with this delicious bacon and fig baked brie.

If you’ve never tried brie with bacon, figs and chives, you are missing out! I first had this combinationof ingredients over the summer in an omelet. Ever since then, I’ve been mixing them together in everything.

So far, this combination is my favorite. It’s so easy, and it makes for a perfect Thanksgiving appetizer because it is done is less than 30 minutes.

Start with brie.

Bake it with butter for 15 minutes.

And top with bacon, chives, figs, and walnuts.

I like to top it with a drizzle of honey just to add some sweetness to this savory dish.

You can’t go wrong with bacon and brie, right? The sweetness of the honey and figs brings this baked brie recipe to a whole other level. I’ll always love the sweet baked brie recipes, but this savory recipe is a welcome change.

If you are anything like me, you are not looking forward to talking politics this Thanksgiving. It’s just too soon for me to talk happily about it. For that reason, I’m going to need plenty of wine. That’s why we are stocking up this holiday season.
