How did Cell spit out 18? ›

Cell uses the Power-Weighted Form after becoming desperate. Cell regurgitates Android 18.

But unlike Cell's other victims the androids do not die, but forcibly merge with him on a cellular level after being swallowed into his body and become a single entity. 17 and 18 will continue to be conscious while merged with Cell and even see through his eyes as they are literally a part of him.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Future Cell once again absorbs the future Androids and achieves his perfect form presumably due to Towa's interference, though this time Towa grants him an Imperfect version of the Supervillain form by shaving off some of Future Cell's life force.

When Cell in his Imperfect Form clashed with Piccolo who had fused with Kami-sama, the God of Earth, he stabbed him in the arm and simply absorbed his energy.

It is possible that Android 18's ability to conceive and give birth is a result of her partial humanity. Her transformation into an android may not have completely eradicated her reproductive capabilities but rather suppressed them while retaining the potential for reactivation.

A devastating error in judgment is made when Vegeta consciously allows Semi-Perfect Cell to absorb Android 18 and achieve perfection in Dragon Ball Z Episode 159, “The Last Defense.” It's a turn of events that's completely avoidable and considered to be one of the biggest mistakes that Vegeta makes in Dragon Ball.

The Butterfly Effect

It's hard to imagine them being any stronger than they were, but according to Future Trunks, the present androids were somehow more of a threat than their future counterparts. Some fans have attributed this rise in strength to some kind of butterfly effect.

The androids were destroyed, but Trunks³ was not powerful enough to combat Cell. Cell killed Future Trunks³ and used his Time Machine to go back in time to find the androids, creating timelines 1 and 2. This is the original timeline. This is one of the darkest timelines, as even Trunks³ is deceased.

After he has managed to absorb the energy of entire cities of people, Cell finds Android #17 during his fight with Piccolo. Cell then breaks Piccolo's neck before Android #16 holds the mechanized villain off. However, he is able to find an opening to absorb #17 and evolve into Semi-Perfect Cell.

Later still, in the Majin Buu Saga, Piccolo demonstrates that he can regenerate from any wound so long as his head is intact. Cell acquired the ability by being created in part by Piccolo's cells, absorbing that part of his Namekian makeup.

In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, when Videl offers to bring him food as reward for picking up Pan from kindergarten, Piccolo reminds her that he doesn't need eat food to survive and merely lives off water, suggesting that Piccolo ceased eating solid food entirely.

At the brink of defeat, Cell talks Vegeta into letting him absorb #18 so he can give him a better fight, and upon doing so, he assumes his final form, which is much more human like.

#17 was likely killed when Cell self-destructed, and then resurrected with the wish to bring back all those killed by Cell. He was not vomited like #18.

Cell could have done that to virtually anybody and demonstrated that in the manga but 17 and 18 had a power level that would have pushed him exactly to where he needed to be to reach his perfect form. It is a common misconception that Cell digested the androids but this was not the case.
