What does the community recommend 20w or 30w charger?

Whether you use a 20w or 30w charger will make no difference as the phone regulates the charge. A more powerful charger will provide no benefit whatsoever. But it also won't hurt the phone either, so if you already have a 30w charger, use it. Just don't buy a 30w charger with the hope it will be better, because it won't be better.

I looked at my wall plug, and it says: Output 5 volts 2.1 amps. How can I determine the wattage of a wall plug if it doesn’t tell me?

Check your facts. 14’s can charge to 27w so yes a 30w will shorten your charge time.

But you need a 20 watt adapter/wall plug to enable fast charging, am I right?
Anyways, that’s true for my iPhone 12. Strangely enough, I didn’t find anything referring to that in the technical specifications of the iPhone 14.
So, for example, my iPhone 12 draws 7.5 watts except when fast charging, then it draws 20 watts? When does fast charging enable?

iPhone 14 can take 27 watts so a 30 watt charger is better. I’ve tested it.
makes a significant impact during the first 20 or so mins but eventually tapers off at high % as the phone reduces to trickle charge and from zero to full there’s not a huge amount of difference between 20 and 30w chargers (but there is still some).

You need at least an 18w charger to support Fast Charging if you plug the phone in to charge. I don't know of anyone selling 18w chargers, so yes, you need a 20w charger if you want to fast charge an iPhone. Apple sells 20w chargers itself.

I don't mind your questions at all. I don't know how to tell you how to check the wattage of a wall plug, but I would hazard a guess that's not a 20w charger. All of the 20w chargers I own (I have several for different devices) say they are 20w. If I can recommend one that is reasonably priced and is exceptionally well made, it's the Anker Nano 20w charging plug. Amazon sells then for about $16, so does BestBuy.

So when does fast charging enable? Just whenever you use a 20 watt power source, or does the iPhone determine the time?
And just to avoid any confusion, by “chargers” you do mean the wall adapters that you plug into an outlet…?

Here is a link about fast charging your iPhone from Apple. Just note that more watts than 20w, won't charge your phone any faster. The phone itself limits the charge coming in.

I'm using a 30 watt charger on my mag safe charger, so people are telling me it only charges at 27 watts.

I can’t use MagSafe (which is wireless charging, I’m assuming,) unfortunately. For one, I’ve been told wireless charging decreases the Maximum Capacity, so that subconsciously weakens my faith in it 😌, plus I have a piece of metal stuck to the back of my iPhone cover, to use with a magnet when driving.
Come to think of it, I could slip the cover off…

Ummm, I found a professional looking adapter at home, that says: Travel Adapter, and Adaptive Fast Charging. 🤷♀️ same wattage: 10.5. How can a wall plug “Adapt Fast Charging?”
I guess if you’re not tired of this subject already, I’ll see your answer tomorrow. I’m getting my b’s and d’s confused already. Crazy, going to bed at this hour!

LOL. NO, it won't. You can use a 100w charger and it won't charge any faster as the phone itself regulates the power coming in. Not the other way around.

Actually, I just asked Electrician the same question a few weeks ago… His reply was something I hadn’t thought of since high school physics class, “ohms law“
Amps x Volts = Watts
so
2.1 amps x 5 volts = 10.5 watts

But that doesn't mean that the phone charges at a 27 watt rate, now does it? You don't seem to understand that the "charger" is in the phone. The phone regulates the charge rate.
So, what "people" are telling you is not correct.
